Built by a Captain Who Was Tired of Cleaning Strainers
Boat Strainers started the way most good ideas do—out of pure frustration.
I’m Chase. I grew up on the water—skiing, wakeboarding, tubing—basically anything that gave me an excuse to be on a boat. At some point, my dad realized I could drive better than he. By the time I turned 18, I had my captain’s license and was teaching others how to run their own boats.
After trade school in Maryland, I spent a few years working on tugs in Galveston Bay. Then came a chance to join the crew of a private yacht, and that kicked off a few wild years traveling through the Bahamas and Caribbean. Eventually, life (and my wife, Alexandra) brought me back to Houston, where I started a yacht management company handling everything from maintenance to captaining private vessels around Galveston Bay.
And that’s where the Boat Strainer story really begins.
The Strainer Problem
If you’ve ever maintained a marine AC system, you know the headache. Strainer baskets get clogged. They’re annoying to clean. They're always falling apart. I was constantly dealing with this on the boats I managed. It was always a hassle—and I knew there had to be a better way.
So I teamed up with my father-in-law. He’s a former NASA engineer (yes, really), and he brought the design skills to match my hands-on boat experience. Together, we 3D printed the first prototypes and tested them in real-world conditions. We didn’t stop until we had something that could actually stand up to life on the water.
What Makes It Better
The Boat Strainer is a one-piece, ultra-durable marine strainer designed for AC systems. It’s built to take a beating and keep working. And when it’s time to clean it? It breaks down easily, with no fuss and no tiny parts to fumble with. Less time messing with baskets. More time on the water.
It’s simple, strong, and just works—exactly how marine gear should be.
Today
These days, I’m still based in Houston, wrangling three little boys (all a year apart—send coffee). I still manage boats, still fish offshore when I can, and still spend as much time on the water as possible. The Boat Strainer started as a fix for a personal problem, but it turns out a lot of boat owners needed the same solution.
We built it because we live this life. And we built it to last.
